CVA MAXX awareness day! - August 1999

The Cosmic "MAXX Promotion Day," held at the Cosmic headquarters in Barking last week, was hailed a great success by Terry Farr and his team who were blessed with sunshine and a good turnout from operators keen to learn more about the Merit touch screen phenomena. Terry told coin slot "The Merit MAXX is no ordinary video game and we decided that a MAXX promotion day was the only way to share our knowledge with operators so that they benefit from our experience."

Lending a helping hand was MAXX operator Keith Parkin who has been organizing Tournaments and is now a leading light in the new tournament promotion company, Megatournaments Ltd. Keith told us "left in the corner of a bar, the MAXX will take money but, with a little promotion and organized tournaments, we've learnt that we can increase the income considerably." Megatournaments, a company set up to enable operators to work together, thereby being able to contribute on a machine-bymachine basis to increase the tournament prize money, has empowered small operators to compete with the 'big boys'.

As Terry explained "Today's small operators are finding it hard to compete in a world dominated by national companies. Our aim is to level the playing field and give everyone an equal opportunity."Sharing was the theme of the day as Terry and his team shared their intimate knowledge of pie, mash and ice cold drinks, too.The promotion day, well attended by operators keen to learn about this new style of operating, also attracted luminaries such as Vic Leslie of Nova GB, the European distributors of the Merit range, and Graeme Noble of Konami.
