One
of the hottest machines at preview this year was NASCAR Racing
from Global VR. Those lucky enough to get on the machine, as
it was surrounded by an eager crowd most of the time, likened
the experience to playing the original Daytona all those years
ago, and there can be few high accolades for a driving game.
Global VR’s UK distributor Cosmic Video Amusements (CVA)
has just taken delivery of its first few containers of the game,
all of which had been sold before they touched the ground. Fortunately
there are more on the way.
The game feature six selectable Nascar – sanctioned tracks
including the legendary Daytona International Speedway and the
Talladega super speedway made famous in Europe by the recent
Will Ferrell Film. Players can also choose from 12 NASCAR drivers
and select three different driver views as they race at speeds
of over 200mph against over 30 opponent cars.
The deluxe cabinet houses at 42” LCD screen and comes
decked with roll bars and a control panel delivering a completely
realistic Nascar feel, right down to the Goodyear tyres. Meanwhile
the standard cabinet offers an impressive 32” LCD.
For those who want to offer their customers real thrills, the
game also come in a Motion Version with a 57” HD Monitor,
and a three DOF Tsunami powered motion platform in addition
to all the features of the deluxe model above.
One of the most attractive features of the machine is that it
can be linked up to ten players, making it a fantastic centrepiece
attraction in any arcade.
“This is, without a doubt, the hottest driving game since
Daytona,” says Terry Farr of CVA. “Our customers
were all over it at preview and the machines are flying out
of the door. It’s the ultimate race experience.”
Nascar is the latest in long line of successful games developed
by Global VR for the coin – op arena and licensed from
leading consumer games specialists EA sports.
